Kalaa Sakhi’s Mission is to promote women’s empowerment by providing vocational training, enterprise development, access to finance, market linkages, leadership development, and equal opportunities. We believe that improving gender equality will create lasting benefits for families and communities, creating a society where every woman can live with confidence and dignity.

What We Do

Women Empowerment in Alignment with SDGs

Kalaa Sakhi is specifically focused on women’s livelihood generation with Sustainable Development Goal – SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and Sustainable Development Goal – SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) being the primary goals while Sustainable Development Goal – SDG 1 (No Poverty) is a strong complementary goal. Working towards Gender Equality and Economic Growth,

Livelihood Initiatives Aligned with SDGs

Kalaa Sakhi, aligning with SDG 5, SDG 8 and SDG 1, undertakes the following initiatives to ensure women’s participation in economic growth:

● Formation and strengthening of women’s self-help groups (SHGs)
● Vocational skill development (cutting and tailoring, knitting, weaving, crochet and other handicrafts)
● Microenterprise and entrepreneurship promotion
● Financial literacy and access to credit
● Agricultural and allied livelihood activities
● Digital and e-commerce training for women entrepreneurs
● Market linkage and value chain development By promoting productive activities, entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation, Kalaa Sakhi aims to empower India’s vulnerable female population. We provide home-based work opportunities to tackle care, social and access related constraints that women face as a result of patriarchy and poverty

Initiatives under National Rural Livelihood Mission

Kalaa Sakhi helps beneficiaries align with the Government of India’s initiatives towards formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). We work towards poverty reduction through SHGs, skill development, financial inclusion livelihood promotion SHGs under NRLM The Ministry of Rural Development under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM)

● Organizes rural poor women into Self-Help Groups (generally 10–20 members).
● Promotes regular savings and internal lending.
● Provides: ○ Revolving Fund (RF)
○ Community Investment Fund (CIF)
○ Bank linkage and credit
○ Interest subvention on eligible loans
○ Skill development and livelihood support
● Focuses on women empowerment, financial inclusion, and sustainable livelihoods.

Initiatives under National Urban Livelihood Mission

Kalaa Sakhi helps beneficiaries align with the Government of India’s initiatives towards formation of Self-Help Groups under NULM. We work towards poverty reduction through SHGs, skill development, financial inclusion livelihood promotion

SHGs under NULM The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) organizes urban poor women into SHGs and supports:
○ Formation and strengthening of SHGs
○ Revolving Fund for eligible SHGs
○ Bank credit with interest subsidy
○ Self-employment through the Self Employment Programme (SEP)
○ Skill training and placement The objective of Kalaa Sakhi under both DAY-NRLM and DAY-NULM is to promote SHGs, bank linkages, financial inclusion, and women’s empowerment.
